This is a nice initiative. Although the 'spelling mistakes' due to marathi font softwares are annoying.
I would have liked to post my Marathi comment. But I don't like to read Marathi any any 'Lipi' other than Devnagari

I would like to ask the creator of that blog just one simple question - is it necessary for a person to speak marathi to be a maharashtrian at heart?I was born and brought up in Bombay(and no, I will not call it Mumbai)and I feel extremely attached to this land.I feel sad in the same way that any native marathi would feel when I read about farmers committing suicide, the grim financial situation in the state or the starvation deaths. It is refreshing sir, to know that Marathis like you are still around, who have a mind of their own and who do not support this rabid brand of regionalism.

Gaurav...

Reading your blog is a great way to remain connected to Mumbai and Maharastra..

I may qualify as a Maharashtrian(born, brought up and educated in Maharashtra) but have South Indian parents and a maharashtrian partner sharing my life! Your blog spurred me to write more in response to the 'Save Maharashtra' blog at http://deepakexploreamaze.blogspot.com/

Well MAHARASTRA, a great state, what has it give India ? Shivaji, a great hero - no one doubts it, but he was fighting for HIS independence or Hindus ?
He coined the popular quotation,

"Maratha tituka milavava
Maharashtra Dharma vadhavava"

translates as, "Bring as many people into Maratha domain as possible and grow the Maharashtra Nation". MNS and Shiv sena are you listening?

Who were these Marathas? The origin of the Marathi-speaking community of Maharashtra cannot be identified with certainty. Whether the term itself is derived from Maharashtra or whether the land assumes the name from its dwellers is difficult to say.
The core dfination of a maharastrian is a person who loves to drink naarangi and smoke beedis. Work ? It is sone by the outsiders !! So if there are no outsiders then what ?

Anyways apart from a handful, rest is zilch. What rest is there has created a pain in the butt.. Ambedkar - should have been shot ..who killed the father of the nation ?

Actually Mumbai and hence Maharastra has come up due to the outsiders such as Parsis and the Gujjus, who have invested everthing there during the British Raj and have made Mumbai what it is.. Take them away and what are u left with ?? Think

Bala Saheb and MNS.. u are spoiling the name of Maharastra by your petty politics !!
JAI HIND ! ! !JAI MAHARASTRA ! ! ! Kick out these choors !!

I agree with most of the views of Gaurav and I strongly believe that people from all over India and the world should come to Mumbai. It would be such an enriching experience for a person to interact with a variety of 'humans'. I feel its time we understood that those days are gone when people lived all there lives in a region and loved it as if its there country. Also a little bashing about marathi manoos should be taken with a pinch of salt by marathis. And ya btw i am a 'puneri moolgi' who very well respects 'maharashtra chi asmita'.
